Matthew Clay-Robison. Real Americans. Woodcut. 22"x 15"

York-based artist Matthew Clay-Robison delivers a bold, powerful commentary on Real Americans:

This woodcut was made leading up to the 2004 Presidential Election and I am trotting it back out because we’re likely to have another Bush on the ballot in 2016 once the dust of the GOP primary has settled and I would like to remind voters that voting for Jeb is a vote for bringing the old Iraq war gang back together – Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, etc. The Bush family ties to the NeoCon warmongers runs deep and they’ll make a great case for a huge confrontation with ISIS, a problem of their own making. Please resist the jingoistic urge to ever pull the lever for a Bush again! This work is satire. You cannot fix a problem with the same mind that created it.
