The Parliament will be hosting a brand new type of show in July, welcome to the Instagrammys! We will be embracing our modern era in July by hosting friendly competition based on the popular smartphone app, Instagram. Don’t have a smartphone? You can still participate! Instagram is now online as well at instagram.com.
Here’s how it works:
- Snap a picture
- Upload it to instagram on your phone or online
- Title your entry and add #ILoveYorkCityArt to the description
- Look for a comment on your photo on June 22 that you have been chosen for the top 30.
The top 30 will be asked to email a high resolution copy of their chosen photo to the gallery team.
The Parliament gallery team will choose the top 30 entries to be presented to the public for popular vote. On June 22, these 30 photos will be posted on our Facebook page for two weeks of “like” voting. 1 like = 1 vote.
Prizes will be given for the top 3 photos. All of the Top 30 entries will be output on stretched canvas and displayed for our July 5 First Friday Show.The gallery will also be open every Saturday in July from 11a-3p.
Artists will be credited for their photos, however The Parliament will be raising money to cover the printing costs and thereby reserves the usage and sale rights to any photo submitted. Photos will be for sale at the event as a fundraiser for the gallery.
We are looking for sponsors to help us cover the costs of this event! A special preview event will be held for all sponsors on Thursday July 4th starting at 6:00 PM, where you will get a first look at the show. Sponsors who donate $50.00 have their pick of a one (12′ x 12′) wrapped canvas Instagram picture from the show.
