Join The Gallery Committee

General Responsibilities:

The goal of the Parliament Arts Organization Gallery Committee is to expand on Downtown York's thriving art scene by producing innovative and thought provoking exhibits that provide the community audience with pertinent visual art interests while attracting Artists from across the region. 

The gallery planning committee member should posses a love and appreciation of art. Committee members curate exhibitions ideas, and help and promote the gallery events

Specific Activities:

  • Participate in monthly lunches hour committee meetings
  • Contribute creatively in a team oriented, collaborative, gallery exhibition planning meeting
  • Formulate ideas for annual gallery exhibition
  • Develop guidelines and selection criteria
  • Write Call for Entries and marketing verbiage
  • Select art that meets the vision of the exhibitions
  • Collaborate with other committee members on promotional materials
  • Work within established exhibition budgets
  • Increase exposure of the gallery exhibits
  • Give adequate time and energy to the duties required

Time Requirements:

The position requires participation in one hour long committee meeting per month and up to five hours volunteer work every month.
